Telling and Measuring Time

 I am learning to tell and measure time.  I was able to know the difference between am and pm, read and tell the time in 5-minute intervals to the hour on analogue clocks and convert time between analog and digital clocks. I found this activity a bit challenging because I don't know quarter past and quarter to. My next step is to calculate elapsed time and say how much time has passed sequence given times.

My Horrible Halloween Day

I found this story easy to write about because I have done multiple creepy house stories.

The Young Eco-Leaders Awards

I am learning to identify different users of colloquial language in the text and explore the structure and features of a narrative text.  I was able to understand colloquial language.  I found this activity easy because I knew what the words mean so I could put them in a sentence.  My next step is to define colloquial language.

Learning to recognise decimal fractions

I am learning to recognise decimals, decimals in words and in fractions. I was able to figure out the decimal in words and in fractions. I found this easy because I am learning about decimals. My next step is to do harder decimal activities.

Speech

I am learning to do a persuasive speech.  I was able to do an introduction, 4 paragraphs and a conclusion.  I found making the speech a bit challenging but I had a few ideas to work with to help me and also the teacher help me as well.  My next step is to write more speeches in the future.

Authors Purpose

I am learning to find out the author's purpose.  I was able to find out what was the author's purpose.  I found this activity easy because all we had to do was to find out what was the author's purpose and an example.  My next step is to do harder author's purpose.

Pest Free Classroom

I am learning to make a pest free poster.
I was able to create a pest free poster.
I found this task hard to because we had to figure out where to put our rules and what will be a good background.

Parts Of Speech - Proper Nouns

Worm Tea Poster

I am learning to make a persuasive poster.  I found making the poster persuasive a bit hard because we had to make different boxes to write in and choosing one was hard because we had to find ones that would look good on the poster.  My next step is to write a persuasive speech.

Converting Improper to Mixed Fractions

I was learning convert improper fractions to mixed fractions

I had to plus the whole numbers together then the numerators together to make the answer.

I thought it was easy because all we needed to do for the mixed was plus them together and for the same for the improper fraction.

My next step is to I can divide the numerator by the denominator.

Volcanoes information report

I am learning about volcanoes.  I was able to write paragraphs about volcanoes.  I found this writing challenging and a little easy because our teacher helped us with writing the paragraphs but we still needed to write in some things.  My next step is to get better at making my paragraphs on my own. 

Parts of Speech - Nouns

 I am learning about nouns. I was able to complete my success criteria. My next step is to do more nouns activity and get better at learning about nouns.

ANZAC acrostic poem

I am learning to write an acrostic poem.
What I found easy was writing in the sentences.
I found out that hundreds of soldiers died in the war of Gallipoli.

Decimal Place Value

I have been learning to understand decimal place value. I found this activity challenging because I was confused with which one was smaller in the ordering decimals. My next step is to get better at ordering decimals by getting to know more about it.

All about me

I am learning to write about myself.  I found this activity hard because I had a hard time to remember some of my feelings for some of the boxes.  I was able to write four paragraphs about me.  Next time I would like to be more creative with the writing and add more details to this activity.  

What's the main idea?

I am learning to identify the main idea for what the paragraph is mostly about.  I found this activity easy because I knew the main idea was about lions and the detail was.  I was able to find the main detail and details of the paragraph.  My next step is to be better at doing the main ideas and details in stories.

I was able to label the graph.  I found this activity easy because I know what a title, scale label, y axis, x axis and to interpret information by looking at the scale to find my answers.

Welcome Post 2019

Welcome to my learning blog for year 5 in 2019. This year I am in Room 25. My teacher is Miss D'Souza. I enjoy handwriting and doing art. My goal for this year is to be better at maths, drawing and art. I am looking forward to doing more science and technology this year. I hope you enjoy my blog and leave some feedback for me.
