Pinto bean greenhouses

Last week on Monday Rm18 made greenhouses for our pinto beans.  First we got a white square paper we traced it and Miss Lister cut the A4 green paper after that we drew a triangle or a dome for the roof I did a dome for the roof Miss Lister cut it out when we finished we decorated it with markers.  I put some different coloured flowers, butterflys, vines, a tree, a broccoli, a sun, a watering can, soil and a growing plant.Now the last part we got a plastic bag Miss Lister wet a paper towel and cotton balls we put them in and we wrote our name and date, bean name ( pinto beans ) then we put in the beans.  Now the beans are not small any more they have grown so much!

I learnt that geese go far away for a very long time and they flew in a V formation.  I think it's interesting how bears eat a lot when they hibernation and how geese fly in a group.

Yesterday we were at Youth Town we learnt about speed and agility there were agility pole, cones, hurdles and ladders (by the way it was at the field and the coaches were Nina and Karen.  After the warm up we played cat and mouse we had to tag the mouse after we all finished we switched then the mice switch with the cats the cats switch to the mice.  I liked doing the warm up and cat and mouse.  Speed is fast or running agility is turning jumping and moving fast.

WALT:I was learning rounding tens.  It was easy to do all of them like this if it was 42 which is closer if its under 4 its 40 like I demonstrated if its higher then 5 its 50 you don't need the ones number in it only the tens.

Snowflakes beautiful nest!

Today we are making a nest for our gosling (its a baby goose) I put some leaves at the bottom to make it warm the tissues are for making it fluffy, the paper towel is for making it stronger also the twigs.I found the leaves on the ground the twigs in the pebbles the paper towels and tissue were in the classroom.  My gosling name is Snowflake.  I shaped my carton to shape a throne.  In my sketching book I drew the side view and top view. We had to label the drawings because if we drew something it might look like a ball but its a circle.

This week is conservation week we are learning how to protect birds in NZ.  The Myna bird eats insects,fruit and really likes berries.  Also it was introduced to NZ.  Another fact is the Myna bird lives in the south island in NZ.  Also has a shiny black head and also shoulders.

It was easy to do skip count forwards in 2s because I already know how to do 2s.  It was tricky to skip backwards from twos because I always miss after the 72 is 70 and the others.

It was easy to do the 'u','oo' and 'oul' sound because the top had all of the words.

Matariki chalk stars

We brainstorm keywords about Matariki.

We had to fold the lines so it could pop up.

We created different patterns inside the star

then we wrote keywords about Matariki.

We chose two chalk colours and we out lined the pencil line then we used our finger to smug it.

Maths:Skip count by 2,5 and 10

I was learning to count in 2s,5s and 10s.I know how to keep adding numbers on to find the answer.It was easy to do the 2s,5s, and 10s because I've been learning 2s,5s and 10s.It was tricky to do 2s,5s and 10s backwards because it starts at the start and it usually its in front.

Explanation writing

I was learning to write an explanation writing.

I was using ideas in my plan.

It was easy to do my brain storm.

WALT:Make text to self connections.

  I was learning to make text to self connections.I made 3 connection out of 5.It was tricky to remember some of them because it was a long time ago when I had a blackout.It was easy to write about shadow puppets because I do them at lunch and morning tea some times.

Spelling:Th digraph

I was learning to find the th digraph words.I learnt how to find th digraph words with a t.It was easy to find the th words because they were easy to find.It was hard to circle the words because you can't see it and theres only a square.

Baking ANZAC biscuits.

Today we made ANZAC biscuits I was so excited and it smelt really good when we started baking the biscuits it smelt awesome.It was really  messy. Some of the ingredients you can eat and some not. When we were mixing the melted butter and baking soda and with the dry ingredients it smelt like cake I helped by putting in 3/quarter of oats and 3/quarter of coconut and we all rolled our own biscuits.

I have been learning to kick with my legs when I hold the bar. I think I  am getting a little better.
