Counting Money and Giving Change

I am learning to recognise the value of NZ coins, to total amounts in coins and to give simple change.

I can add the money but I need to practise giving change.

Keep practising counting money and giving change at home.  Work with your family with simple money.   Mrs Templeton 16.11.16

Predicting, Inferring and Exploring Vocabulary

I am learning to predict, make inferences and explore vocabulary.

Some of the questions were hard for me. I was thinking explaining the meaning was a bit hard.  Next time I can talk to my group to work some out.  Analise  16.11.16

Analise, I think we should definitely share our thoughts in the group, this would give us lots more ideas.  Mrs Templeton  16.11.16

Kiwi Dog: Comprehension Questions

I am learning to answer comprehension questions to show my understanding of what I have read.

It was quite easy for me to read it but I didn't know what a burrow or a muzzle was.  I worked it out by reading it all.

This was a new challenge for you Analise.  You are started to read harder books and work hard to make sense of tricky words.  Mrs Templeton

Visual Art: Geometric Shape Art

I have been learning to observe and compare the works of other artists and to create my own art work using geometric shapes.

To be successful I needed to look at the works of Klee, Matisse and Kandinsky (right) and cut a range of shapes in different sizes and place them carefully to create my own masterpiece. (left)

Describing a Storm

I am learning to describe a storm using my senses.

To be successful I will choose interesting words to describe what I can see, hear and feel during a storm.
Analise you have made an amazing job of describing a storm.  You have used a simile:
"the wind howls like a ghost" and lots of other great describing words.
When I read your poem I could really see, hear and feel that storm!  Mrs Templeton

Maths

Counting On

I am learning to count on from the bigger number.

“I write 5 plus 6 equals 6 plus 5 because I put the biggest number first.  Then I put the 6 in my head and counted the 5.”
